2025-26 UCCS INDOOR TRACK & FIELD SEASON RECAP
  • The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team put together an impressive 2025-26 indoor season in which the men's and women's teams swept the conference championship meet and combined to send a total of 11 student-athletes to the national championship meet.  
  • The Mountain Lion men's and women's teams recorded a total of 45 NCAA provisional qualifying marks throughout the 2025-26 indoor qualifying season. Click HERE to view a breakdown of each provisional mark and where they finished the season ranked among NCAA Division II competition. 
  • At the 2026 RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Mountain Lions put forth a dominant performance as the men's team scored 124 points to win their second consecutive indoor conference title and the women's team notched 157.5 points to hoist the indoor trophy for the first time since the 2021-22 indoor season. Competing on the campus of Western Colorado University at the Mountaineer Field House in Gunnison, Colo., UCCS racked up a total of 19 podium finishes across the two-day conference championship meet and saw six student-athletes earn individual titles in their respective event, including Dillon Arvayo (Heptathlon), Josiah Billington (Long Jump), Jake Hall (High Jump), Savannah Jorgens (Weight Throw), Kseniya Nikanorov (5,000m), and Brooke Peterson (Pole Vault).
  • Two weeks after the conclusion of the conference championship meet, the Mountain Lions made their way to Virginia Beach, Va. for the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships with 11 student-athletes primed to compete on the national stage. UCCS came away from the meet with 10 student-athletes earning USTFCCCA Second Team All-America accolades across six individual events and one relay event.
2026 UCCS OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD SEASON RECAP
  • Following their appearance at the indoor national championship meet, the Mountain Lions rolled directly into the outdoor season the next weekend and kept their momentum rolling as the men's and women's teams linked up to record a total of 38 NCAA provisional qualifying marks throughout the 2026 outdoor qualifying season.   • UCCS put together an outstanding showing at the 2026 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside the CSUP ThunderBowl as the women's team secured their second consecutive outdoor conference title with a program-record 227.33 points, while the men's team had their five-year outdoor championship run (2021-25) snapped, finish second overall despite scoring 164 points. The Mountain Lions recorded a total of 30 podium finishes at the outdoor conference championship meet with eight silver medalists, 12 bronze medalists, and individual event champions in 10 events, including Evan Atkin (Decathlon), Josiah Billington (Long Jump), Noah Brown (4x100m), Zamari Burrell (4x100m), Michael Ryan Cruzado (4x100m), Ayianna Johnson (Discus Throw), KJ McInnis (Triple Jump), Daryn Ofori-Kuragu (4x100m), Brooke Peterson (Pole Vault), Kaya Pillivant (10,000m), Michael Roberts (Hammer Throw), Krissie Sanders (400m Hurdles), and Maylee Thompson (Heptathlon).
  • After one final weekend of last chance meets, UCCS had 14 student-athletes selected to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside Francis G. Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University. Across three days of competition at the national championship meet, the Mountain Lions had 13 student-athletes earn All-America accolades across nine individual events and one relay event, headlined by Josiah Billington as a First Team All-American in the long jump. With the one point scored by Billington as the eighth-place finisher in the long jump, the UCCS men's team earned a T-58th place finish in the meet.  
AWARD WINNERS
  • Following their sweep of the indoor conference championship meet, the UCCS men's and women's teams garnered a total of 45 All-RMAC accolades, including 20 on the men's side and 25 on the women's side. The Mountain Lions were also heavily recognized at the conference level after their strong performances at the outdoor conference championship meet, notching a total of 64 All-RMAC honors and collecting one major award in the form of Ross Fellows being named the RMAC Women's Co-Coach of the Year.   • The Mountain Lions were equally as successful in the classroom as they were on the track during the 2025-26 academic year as the program was heavily recognized on the RMAC Indoor & Outdoor All-Academic Teams. UCCS had six members of the RMAC All-Academic First Team and 55 student-athletes listed on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll after the indoor track & field season and followed up with eight RMAC All-Academic First Team honorees and 49 RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll members for the outdoor track & field season.   • The UCCS track & field program was well-represented on the 2025-26 USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor All-South Central Region Teams, where the top five individuals in the region in each event and each member of the region's top three relay teams were recognized for each season. Following the indoor qualifying season, the Mountain Lions had 19 student-athletes combine for a total of 20 All-South Central Region accolades, including Michael Roberts (Weight Throw) and Brooke Peterson (Pole Vault) as the top regional performers in their respective events. UCCS continued their momentum into the outdoor season as 15 Mountain Lions teamed up to secure a total of 16 All-South Central Region accolades, including Josiah Billington (Long Jump) and Roberts (Hammer Throw) as top regional performers.   • The Mountain Lions collected a total of 23 USTFCCCA All-America honors during the 2025-26 academic year with 10 of them coming at the indoor national championship meet and 13 being earned at the outdoor national championship meet.

HOT TAKES
  • With three more conference championships during the 2025-26 academic year, the Mountain Lions have now won a total of 22 RMAC titles since the 2017-18 season, including 11 on the men's side and 11 on the women's side.
  • The UCCS women's team swept the indoor and outdoor conference championships for the 2025-26 academic year as they earned their first indoor conference title since the 2021-22 season while winning the outdoor conference championship for the second consecutive year and the sixth time in the last seven contested outdoor championships dating back to the 2018-19 season.
  • At the 2026 RMAC Outdoor Championships, the UCCS women's team recorded an indoor and outdoor program-record 227.33 points to secure a dominant 120-point victory over runner-up Colorado Mesa University. The Mountain Lions' scoring output marks just the second time in program history surpassing the 200-point threshold, with the other occurrence coming in the form of a 216-point showing at the 2020-21 RMAC Indoor Championships.
  • The UCCS men's team has now won six of the past seven indoor conference titles after hoisting the trophy at the 2026 RMAC Indoor Championships. The Mountain Lion men's squad had their five-year stretch of outdoor conference titles snapped with their second-place finish at the 2026 RMAC Outdoor Championships but have been the champions or runners-up in every outdoor season dating back to the 2017-18 campaign.
  • UCCS Head Coach Ross Fellows was selected as the RMAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Co-Coach of the Year, marking the 18th time in his coaching career at UCCS that he has earned the accolade.
  • The Mountain Lions had a pair of student-athletes earn individual event titles in their respective events at both the indoor and outdoor conference championships this season, including Brooke Peterson in the women's pole vault and Josiah Billington in the men's long jump.
  • Evan Atkin and Maylee Thompson became the first Mountain Lion duo in program history to sweep the combined events at a conference championship meet with Atkin earning the gold medal in the decathlon and Thompson securing the top podium spot in the heptathlon at the 2026 RMAC Outdoor Championships.
  • The Mountain Lions had 16 student-athletes earn USTFCCCA All-America accolades for the first time in their collegiate career throughout the 2025-26 academic year.
  • Michael Roberts earned a pair of Second Team All-America accolades in 2025-26, finishing 12th overall in the men's weight throw at the indoor national championships and 11th overall in the men's hammer throw at the outdoor national championships. He became just the second student-athlete in indoor program history to earn All-America accolades in the men's weight throw and the first in outdoor program history to collect All-America honors in the men's hammer throw.
  • Krissie Sanders joined Roberts in garnering a pair of Second Team All-America honors during the 2025-26 campaign as was the 15th-place finisher in the women's 60m hurdles at the indoor national championship meet and the 10th-place finisher in the women's 400m hurdles at the outdoor national championship meet. Sanders became the second student-athlete in indoor program history to secure All-America honors in the women's 60m hurdles and the first in outdoor program history to earn All-America distinction in the women's 400m hurdles.
  • With his eighth-place finish in the men's long jump at the outdoor national championship meet, Josiah Billington became just the second student-athlete in program history to collect First Team All-America honors in the outdoor men's long jump, joining Peterson Bohannon, who finished fifth overall in the event at the 2022 outdoor national championships.
  • With Emma Montoya garnering Second Team All-America accolades with a 16th-place finish in the women's mile at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships, UCCS has now had at least one All-American in the event in nine of the past 10 years. In that span, seven Mountain Lions have combined to collect a total of 15 All-America honors, including 11 first team accolades and four second team honors.
  • After securing Second Team All-America accolades with a 10th place finish in the women's weight throw at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships, Savannah Jorgens joined former teammate Anna Holland as the second student-athlete in indoor program history to earn All-America honors in the event.
  • The Mountain Lions have had an All-American in the women's 5,000m in back-to-back indoor seasons with Kseniya Nikanorov notching Second Team honors with a 15th place finish in the event at the indoor national championship meet. She became just the fourth student-athlete in indoor program history to record All-America accolades in the event.
  • With his Second Team All-America nod in the men's heptathlon at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships, Dillon Arvayo became the third men's heptathlete in program history to earn indoor All-America honors, joining the Mountain Lion duo of Sam Repsher and Thorben Hast who earned first team recognition in 2019-20 and 2021-22, respectively.
  • After taking 11th place overall with a time of 3:13.32 in the men's 4x400m relay at the indoor national championship meet to secure Second Team All-America honors, Sebastien Jean, Andrew Muncy, Joshua Gross, and Hayden Fox became the first men's 4x400m relay athletes to earn All-America accolades in both indoor and outdoor program history.
  • With their 11th place finish in the men's 4x100m relay at the outdoor national championship meet, the group consisting of Daryn Ofori-Kuragu, Noah Brown, Luke Trinrud, and Broden Cahoon earned Second Team All-America honors and became the fourth 4x100m relay team in program history to collect All-America status. The Mountain Lions previously earned First Team accolades in 2018 and 2023 and Second Team honors in 2021.
  • With his ninth-place finish in the men's 3,000m steeplechase at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Impellitteri became the first All-American in the event in UCCS program history.
  • Kate Henderson (11th) and Molly Breuer (15th) both secured Second Team All-America accolades in the women's 3,000m steeplechase at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships, marking the first two student-athletes to garner All-America distinction in the event since the 2006 campaign.
  • After earning Second Team All-America honors with a 14th place finish in the men's decathlon at the outdoor national championship meet, Evan Atkin became the second student-athlete in program history to earn All-America accolades in the event, joining two-time Second Team All-American Thorben Hast (2023-24).
