COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Savannah Jorgens of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's track & field team has been named the Week 4 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week after posting a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying marks at the New Mexico Team Open last weekend.
 
Jorgens becomes the fifth UCCS student-athlete to earn a weekly conference award this indoor season, joining Sebastien Jean, Broden Cahoon, Krissie Sanders, and Payton Rodgers, who completed a sweep of the awards in Week 2.
 
A fourth-year member of the track & field program, Jorgens brings home RMAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week accolades for the first time in her collegiate career after an impressive showing at the New Mexico Team Open on Jan. 30-31 in which she posted a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the throws events. She opened the weekend on Friday in the women's weight throw as she unleashed a provisional qualifying toss of 18.48m that was good for fifth overall in the field of 35 throwers and ranked as the top mark by an NCAA DII competitor. Jorgens followed up with another strong performance on Saturday in the women's shot put as she posted a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 13.74m to finish sixth overall out of 30 competitors.
 
With just a few weeks remaining before the 2026 RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, Jorgens' season-best mark of 18.85m in the weight throw leads the RMAC and ranks eighth in NCAA Division II while her season-best toss of 13.74m in the shot put sits second in the conference and tied for 28^th in the nation.
 
The Mountain Lions will make the short trip to Boulder, Colo. this weekend to compete at the Colorado Classic on Feb. 6-7.
