COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Redshirt junior
Grace Solarin of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's track & field team has been named the Week 7 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week after winning the weight throw and shot put competitions at Western Colorado University's Last Chance RMAC Qualifier meet on Saturday, Feb. 21.
Solarin garners the first weekly conference award of her collegiate career after posting a pair of first place finishes last Saturday at WCU's Last Chance RMAC Qualifier, winning both the women's weight throw and shot put competitions. In the women's weight throw, Solarin posted a season and personal best NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 17.43m to best the eight-person field. In addition to ranking No. 5 all-time in UCCS women's program history for the event, her mark currently sits third in the RMAC and 38
th in NCAA Division II. Later in the day, Solarin returned to the throws cage and earned another event win in the women's shot put as she finished first overall out of 16 competitors with a toss of 12.92m. Solarin's toss was just shy of her season best mark of 13.49m, which ranks fifth overall in the conference.
Solarin and the Mountain Lions are set to travel back to Gunnison, Colo. this weekend for the 2026 RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will take place on February 27-28 inside WCU's Mountaineer Field House.
