COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the 2025-26 Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Teams on Thursday afternoon, with 61 student-athletes from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team earning recognition for their achievements in the classroom.
The Mountain Lions had six student-athletes secure RMAC All-Academic First Team accolades with senior
Dillon Arvayo, senior
Kyle Demos, and senior
Michael Roberts representing the Mountain Lions on the men's side, while junior
Emma Montoya, senior
Brooke Peterson, and junior
Krissie Sanders were recognized on the women's side.
Adams State University's Lieke Hoogsteen was tabbed as the RMAC Women's Academic Athlete of the Year, while Colorado Christian University's Matthew Storer was selected as the RMAC Men's Academic Athlete of the Year.
The RMAC All-Academic First Team and Academic Athlete of the Year awards were voted on by the conference's sports information directors.
To be eligible for consideration on the RMAC All-Academic First Team, a student-athlete must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters and carry a cumulative 3.50 grade point average (GPA). All student-athletes that met those requirements but were not selected for the First Team, or have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30, automatically qualified for the Honor Roll.
A first-time member of the RMAC All-Academic First Team, Arvayo earned the accolade after a breakout senior season in which he posted a massive personal best in the heptathlon while excelling in the classroom as a business major. The senior from Tucson, Ariz. put together an incredible performance at the RMAC Indoor Championship meet as he was the individual champion in the heptathlon while surpassing his previous personal best in the event by more than 250 points. A member of the All-RMAC First Team and USTFCCCA All-South Central Region Team in the heptathlon, Arvayo ended the qualifying season ranked ninth in the country for the event with a season-best mark of 5,209 points, which qualified him to compete at the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 13-14. In his first NCAA Indoor Championships appearance, Arvayo notched a 13
th place finish in the heptathlon with a score of 5,016 points to secure USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors.
Demos collected RMAC All-Academic First Team honors for the fourth time in his collegiate career after another strong indoor season that saw him continue his excellent work in the throws ring and in the classroom as a business major. A local product from Colorado Springs, Colo., Demos had a strong senior season for the Mountain Lions as he earned Second Team All-RMAC honors and USTFCCCA All-South Central Region honors in the shot put with a season-best and school record breaking mark of 17.27m. The standout thrower scored five points at the indoor conference championship meet for the RMAC Champion Mountain Lion men's team, finishing fourth overall in the shot put with a mark of 16.55m.
Another first-time RMAC All-Academic First Team honoree, Montoya secured the accolade after a strong indoor season in which she made her first career individual appearance at the national championship meet while continuing her strong work as an exercise science major. At the RMAC Indoor Championships, Montoya earned a pair of Second Team All-RMAC honors as the fourth-place finisher in the mile and the fifth-place finisher in the 3,000m. With her personal best converted time of 4:50.57 in the mile at the indoor conference championship meet, the Los Alamos, N.M. native punched her ticket to the NCAA DII Indoor Championships on an individual basis for the first time in her career as she went on to notch USTFCCCA Second Team All-America accolades with a 16
th place finish in the event.
Peterson secured RMAC All-Academic First Team accolades for the first time in her career with the Mountain Lions after combining her exceptional efforts as a biology major with her strong indoor season at the pole vault runway. A senior from Cottonwood, Ariz., Peterson hit the NCAA provisional qualifying standard for the women's pole vault on five different occasions during the indoor season and ultimately finished the qualifying period with a personal best clearance of 3.92m at the RMAC Indoor Championships, which crowned her as the individual champion in the event and qualified her for the indoor national championship meet. As the top regional performer in the South Central region for the women's pole vault, Peterson finished her indoor season with First Team All-RMAC honors and USTFCCCA All-South Central Region accolades in the event.
Roberts collected the first RMAC All-Academic First Team selection his collegiate career after an incredible indoor season that saw him post a breakout performance in the men's weight throw while continuing to shine academically as a business major. Roberts wasted little time putting a new personal best mark on the board, unleashing a toss of 19.28m in his first competition of the indoor season before eventually shattering the men's weight throw school record on Feb. 14 at the CRC Mountain Lion Open with a toss of 20.39m that stood as the No. 15 ranked mark at the end of the qualifying period. Roberts kept his momentum rolling at the indoor conference championship meet as he posted a runner-up finish with a toss of 20.06m, earning First Team All-RMAC accolades in the event. As the top regional performer in the South Central for the men's weight throw, Roberts brought his talents to the national stage for the first time in his collegiate career at the NCAA Indoor Championships, where he posted a 12
th place finish with a mark of 19.91m to earn USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors.
A philosophy major from Littleton, Colo., Sanders picked up RMAC All-Academic First Team honors for the second time in her collegiate career after another impressive indoor season on the track and in the classroom. Sanders played a key role in helping the UCCS women's team secure the indoor conference title as she scored 13 points at the RMAC Indoor Championships, finishing second overall in the women's 60m hurdles and fourth overall in the women's 400m dash. A USTFCCCA All-South Central Region and First Team All-RMAC honoree in the 60m hurdles, Sanders season-best converted time of 8.52s earned her a selection to the indoor national championship meet, where she posted a 15
th place finish in the event and secured USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors.
In addition to having six first team honorees, UCCS also had 55 student-athletes listed on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, including 28 from the men's team and 27 from the women's team.
