COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Redshirt sophomore Josiah Billington of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's track & field team has been voted as the Week 2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week after posting a personal best and provisional qualifying performance in the men's long jump over the weekend.

Billington secures the first weekly conference award of his collegiate career after notching a pair of impressive efforts in the men's long jump and men's 100m dash on Saturday at the Chuck Haering Invitational. The Mountain Lions' standout jumper and sprinter kicked off his day in the men's long jump and wasted little time unleashing a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying leap of 7.43m on his first jump of the competition, which placed him first overall in the 21-person field for the event. After the first two weekends of outdoor competition, Billington currently stands first in the RMAC and fifth in NCAA Division II for the men's long jump. Following his massive performance at the jumps pit, the native of Castle Rock, Colo., put his talents on display on the track as he sprinted to a personal best converted time of 10.83s in the men's 100m dash, finishing ninth overall out of 38 competitors in the event.

The Mountain Lions will split up across the country this week as a group of distance runners are set to compete at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on April 3-4 while the remainder of the team will compete at the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational in the Lone Star State on April 2-4.
