2026 OT&F Championships Preview

PREVIEW | Track & Field Sets Sights on Defending RMAC Outdoor Titles in Pueblo

THIS WEEK'S ACTION
  • The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's and women's track & field teams will travel south to the campus of Colorado State University Pueblo this weekend to compete at the 2026 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held April 24-26 inside the CSUP ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo.
  • The three-day conference championship meet is set to begin on Friday at 9:45 a.m. with the opening events of the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon. Saturday's events are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. with open events and the conclusion of the multis, while Sunday's action will kick off at 10 a.m. with exculsively event finals being contested.
  • The Mountain Lions enter the weekend looking to defend their sweep of the 2025 RMAC Outdoor Championships in Golden, Colo. The UCCS men's team has captured five consecutive outdoor conference titles (2021–25) and will pursue a sixth straight crown, while the women's team aims for its fifth title in the past six contested championships dating back to 2019 (the 2020 meet was canceled due to COVID-19).
MEET INFORMATION TICKETS
  • Tickets for the 2026 RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships can be purchased through Hudl Tickets. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online before arriving at the facility. Tickets will be sent via email with a QR code that can be scanned at the gates when you arrive.
  • Admission Prices:
    • General Admission (Single Day): $15 + $1 Service Fee
    • Kids (6-17), Over 65, & Military (Single Day): $10 + $1 Service Fee
    • General Admission (Multi-Day): $35 + $2.74 Service Fee
    • Kids (6-17), Over 65, & Military (Multi-Day): $25 + $2.54 Service Fee
RMAC NETWORK
  • Fans who are unable to attend in-person will be able to view both days of the 2026 RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on the RMAC Network. The conference will have day passes available to purchase for $15 per day, which will give fans access to all championship broadcasts for 24 hours.
WEATHER
  • The weather in Pueblo, Colo., is expected to be mostly sunny throughout the weekend with temperatures in the mid-70s on Friday before dropping into the high-60s on Saturday and Sunday. Winds could be a factor during Sunday's action as they are projected to be swirling at 20 to 30 mph from the southwest.

  • The Mountain Lions will have a total of 109 student-athletes competing at this season's outdoor conference championship meet. On the men's side, the Mountain Lions have 55 student-athletes competing across 69 individual entries and two relay entries, while the women's team is set to have 54 student-athletes competing across 86 individual entries and two relay entries.

2026 OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD SEASON IN-REVIEW
  • Entering the outdoor conference championship meet, the UCCS men's and women's teams have combined to record a total of 28 NCAA provisional qualifying marks for the 2026 outdoor season.   • The Mountain Lion men's and women's teams have combined to break three outdoor school records throughout the season:
  • The Mountain Lions secured three RMAC Athlete of the Week awards throughout the 2026 Outdoor Track & Field season.
UCCS UNDER HEAD COACH ROSS FELLOWS
  • The 2025-26 season marks Ross Fellows' 10th season as the head coach of the UCCS men's and women's track & field programs. Under his leadership, the Mountain Lions have won a total of 21 RMAC Championship trophies (11 Indoor, 10 Outdoor), including the first indoor and outdoor conference titles in both men's and women's program history.
  • A 17-time RMAC Coach of the Year recipient, Fellows has coached a total of 132 RMAC individual event champions, eight RMAC Track Athletes of the Year, 11 RMAC Field Athletes of the Year, and four RMAC Freshman of the Year. The Mountain Lions have become perennial contenders on the national stage under the supervision of Fellows, earning 205 individual entries and 19 relay entries to the indoor and outdoor national championship meets since the start of the 2016-17 season while also recording 15 top 25 team finishes, earning 184 All-America honors, and winning six individual national championships in the same period.
  • In addition, UCCS track & field has performed well in the classroom with Fellows at the head of the program, compiling 72 RMAC All-Academic First Team honorees, six RMAC Academic Athletes of the Year, and 24 CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-America accolades.
LAST CHANCE MEETS
  • Following the completion of the conference championship meet, the Mountain Lions will have a few more opportunities for student-athletes to qualify for the outdoor national championship meet as they are scheduled to compete at the APU Franson Last Chance meet in Azusa, Calif. on May 7-9 and the UNK Loper Twilight in Kearney, Neb. on May 9.
NCAA DIVISION II OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
  • The participant field for the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be announced at approximately 4 p.m. (MT) on Tuesday, May 12. The three-day national championship meet will take place in Emporia, Kan., on the campus of Emporia State University at Francis G. Welch Stadium.
  • Beginning last year, NCAA Division II implemented a pre-determined field size as the national committee will select the top 22 student-athletes in individual events, top 16 in combined events, and top 16 relay groups to compete at the national championship meet.
