PUEBLO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team completed day two of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational on Saturday with senior
Brooke Peterson posting an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the women's pole vault and the Mountain Lion men's team earning a pair of event wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Brooke Peterson logged the lone NCAA provisional qualifying mark of the meet for the Mountain Lions in the women's pole vault as she cleared a bar height of 3.79m to finish sixth overall in the 13-person competition. Coming in one bar below Peterson was freshman Colette Bibeault, who claimed seventh place with a mark of 3.64m in her first outdoor pole vault competition.
- Redshirt senior Jake Hall earned a first-place finish in the men's high jump as he was the last man standing in the event with a bar clearance of 2.01m, while freshman Lyai Lyai was the fourth-place finisher overall at a mark of 1.86m.
- UCCS added another event win in the men's long jump where freshman Jayden Nohr was the top overall finisher in the 17-person field with a leap of 7.06m. Redshirt junior KJ McInnis joined Nohr inside the top five as he finished third overall with a mark of 6.93m, while junior Evan Atkin (6.82m), redshirt sophomore Josiah Billington (6.81m), senior Willie Tran (6.64m), and redshirt freshman Luguse Nuss (6.63m) claimed the fifth through eighth positions in the event standings.
- In the women's 100m dash, junior Taryn Fettig shaved three-tenths of a second off her previous personal best in the event as she secured a second place finish out of 29 sprinters with a converted time of 11.98s. UCCS had five additional student-athletes finish inside the top 10 in the event with junior Zane Bullock (12.02c) taking fifth place and redshirt senior Madissyn Moore (12.13c), freshman Katie Jewell (12.23c), freshman Emili Voelker (12.23c), and freshman Leiava Holliman (12.25c) holding down the seventh through tenth positions.
- Most of the Mountain Lions' women's sprinters returned to the track later in the afternoon for the 200m dash and it was Bullock who took the lead in the event as she raced to a converted time of 24.85s to secure a fourth place finish out of 40 competitors. Jewell was the next Mountain Lion across the finish line as she took sixth place in a converted time of 24.94s, while Fettig finished 11th overall with a personal best converted time of 25.36s and Holliman claimed 14th overall with a converted time of 25.41s.
- The Mountain Lions placed four student-athletes inside the top 10 in the men's 100m dash competition with senior Daryn Ofori-Kuragu leading the group in fifth place while matching his personal best with a converted time of 10.49s. Freshman Michael Ryan Cruzado finished sixth overall in the 38-person field with a converted time of 10.51s, with freshman Noah Brown (10.55s) and junior Zamari Burrell (10.63s) finishing in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Along with their top four finishers, UCCS also had seven additional student-athletes run sub-11 second converted times in the event, including freshman Revano Plummer (10.80c), redshirt junior Broden Cahoon (10.81c), freshman Julian Brantley (10.82c), junior TJ Nissen (10.86c), junior Luke Trinrud (10.87c), redshirt freshman Luguse Nuss (10.89c), and freshman Jayden Nohr (10.93c).
- After a strong debut in the 100m dash, Cruzado put his talents on display once again in the men's 200m dash as he was the top Mountain Lion finisher and placed fourth overall out of 42 competitors in the event with a converted time of 21.29s. Ofori-Kuragu also carried his momentum into the 200m dash as he took sixth place overall with a converted time of 21.33s, while Burrell finished eighth overall in a converted time of 21.50s, Plummer secured 10th place in a converted time of 21.65s, and Brown notched 12th place overall in a converted time of 21.73s.
- Junior Dallis Robinson cleared a personal best bar height of 1.67m in the women's high jump as she took fifth place overall in the competition out of 17 jumpers. Freshman Evelyn McClellan and junior Lilyana Delagarza also had put forth solid efforts in their respective outdoor debuts as they finished in a tie for fifth place with identical marks of 1.62m.
- Junior Brett Davis led the Mountain Lions in the men's 10,000m race as he notched a third-place finish in the 28-person field with a converted time of 29:54.73. UCCS also had a pair of redshirt juniors finish inside the top 10 competitors in the event with Michael Burke Jr. taking seventh overall with a converted time of 30:21.07 and Caden Leal claiming eighth overall with a converted time of 30:27.51.
- At the women's long jump runway, freshman Jillian Hennessy was the top finisher for the Mountain Lions as she posted a mark of 5.70m for a third-place finish in the 22-person field. Junior Maylee Thompson finished just behind Hennessy in fourth place with a mark of 5.69m, while redshirt senior Madissyn Moore took fifth overall with a mark of 5.53m, redshirt senior Chelsea Howard finished seventh overall with a leap of 5.41m, and junior Brielle Bracken secured eighth place with a mark of 5.33m.
- UCCS had two of the top five finishers in the women's 100m hurdles as senior Abigail Frey surged to a personal best converted time of 14.38s for a third-place finish out of 22 hurdlers while Bibeault clocked a converted time of 14.48s for a fifth-place finish in the competition. In the men's 110m hurdles, freshman Xavier Sutherlin was the top Mountain Lion finisher as he claimed eighth place overall out of 22 competitors with a converted time of 14.88s.
- Frey returned to the track later in the afternoon and put forth another strong effort in the women's 400m hurdles as she circled the track in a personal best converted time of 1:02.69 for a fourth place finish out of 13 competitors in the event. Redshirt senior Gigi Douillard was the seventh-place finisher in the competition with a converted time of 1:04.70, while junior Lilyana Delagarza posted a personal best converted time of 1:08.26 for an eighth-place finish.
- Redshirt junior Enzo Knapp paced UCCS in the men's 1500m as he logged a seventh place finish out of 74 runners in the competition with a personal best converted time of 3:51.54. Redshirt sophomore Jonas Graff also notched a personal best effort in the event with converted time of 3:55.16 that placed him 15th overall, while redshirt freshman Jacob Kinne finished directly behind Graff in 16th place with a converted time of 3:55.50 in his collegiate outdoor debut. In the women's 1500m, redshirt junior Maddie Ruszkiewicz was the first Mountain Lion to cross the finish line as she posted a personal best converted time of 4:42.07 to finish 17th overall in the 68-person field.
- Freshman Jackson Dalleck was the top Mountain Lion finisher in the men's 3,000m steeplechase as he finished eighth overall out of 16 competitors with a converted time of 9:46.51 in his outdoor debut. Redshirt senior Jack Donze was the ninth-place finisher in the event with a converted time of 9:49.66, while redshirt freshman Caden Weadon was right on his tail in 10th place with a converted time of 9:49.73.
- In the women's 400m dash, freshman Michelle Headley was the first Mountain Lion across the finish line as she sprinted to a converted time of 58.48s that was good for seventh place overall in the 28-person field. Freshman Bentley Fitzgerald was the 12th place finisher in the competition with a converted time of 1:00.05, while redshirt freshman Ceanna Dietz claimed 13th place with a converted time of 1:00.08.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- UCCS recorded updates to the top five lists in the outdoor record book for five different events on day two of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational, including the women's 100m hurdles, men's 110m hurdles, women's 400m hurdles, women's high jump, and women's pole vault.
