NEW ORLEANS, La. – Following two strong performances last week at the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs cross country programs continue their presence in the Week 6 United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Cross Country National Coaches' poll. After a runner-up performance this past Saturday, the Mountain Lions women's team received 220 points and reached new heights in program history, earning a No. 3 ranking in Division II. The UCCS men's squad moved two spots to No. 15 this week.
Running on their home course and serving as the host institution for the conference championships, the Mountain Lions women's team finished second to Colorado School of Mines, matching the program's best finish ever at a conference championship. With 68 points, UCCS finished ahead of third-place Adams State University, marking the first-ever time the Mountain Lions have defeated the Grizzlies at a conference championship meet. Six Mountain Lions earned All-RMAC distinction, including
Elizabeth McQuitty, who was awarded the inaugural RMAC Freshman of the Meet honor. Joining McQuitty on the All-RMAC First Team was
Kseniya Nikanorov, who finished 10
th overall. Running to All-RMAC Second Team honors were
Maddie Ruszkiewicz (15
th place),
Madison Brosig (17
th place), 20
Allie Grahn (20
th place), and
Kaya Pillivant (21
st place). The highest UCCS previously ranked in Division II was No. 4 (nine times).
In the men's 8k championship race, UCCS earned a fourth-place finish with 122 points.
Brett Davis led the Mountain Lions and earned All-RMAC Second Team accolades with a 22nd-place finish, followed by
Logan Cole in 24
th place. Joining Davis and Cole on the All-RMAC Second Team were
Koy Cunningham (25
th place) and
Enzo Knapp (27th place).
Moving back to the top ranking in the men's Division II poll is Wingate University, while Mines keeps their No. 1 ranking in the women's poll.
UCCS will travel to Pueblo, Colo., next Saturday, Nov. 8, for the NCAA South Central Regional Championships. The women's 6k race will kick off Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 10k race at 11:15 a.m.
