Mountain Lions Claim 13th Place Finish at NCAA XC Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Running in their final meet of the 2025 cross country season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Cross Country men's cross country team collected 394 points to finish 13th out of 34 teams at the 2025 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships.  The national championship meet was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis., on the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course.

AROUND THE COURSE
  • Pacing the Mountain Lions Saturday morning on the muddy and chewed-up trail was Brett Davis, who clocked a time of 30:57 to finish 54th overall. 
  • Joseph Impellitteri's time of 31:30 proved to be the 91st fastest time in the race as he came in second for UCCS.
  • Enzo Knapp and Koy Cunningham were neck-and-neck across the finish line.  Knapp crossed first in 100th place with a time of 31:40.1 before Cunningham's 101st place finish in 31:40.2
  • Logan Cole brought in the Mountain Lions scorers, recording a time of 31:48 that put him in 112th place.
                       
RACE LEADERS
  • Wingate University edged Adams State University by nine points to win the men's team title with 62 points. 
  • The individual title went to ASU's Kidus Begashaw, who ran the 10k course in 29:38.

BEYOND THE FINISH LINE
  • The Mountain Lions' 13th-place finish is their best finish since 2022 when they also claimed a 13th-place finish.
  • Notching new personal best times this morning were Davis (30:57) and Cunningham (31:40).
 
UP NEXT
  • Today's national meet concludes the 2025 cross country season.  The Mountain Lions will now turn their attention to the 2025-25 indoor track and field season.
