2025 UCCS Men’s Cross Country Season Recap

Men's Cross Country Season Recap
  • The University of Colorado Colorado Springs's men's cross country team had a strong year in the 2025 season. The Mountain Lions finished in 13th place (394 points) out of 34 teams at the NCAA Division II Championship meet, placed sixth at the NCAA South Central Regional meet, and finished fourth at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship meet.
  • UCCS opened the season with a second-place finish out of six teams at the annual UCCS Rust Buster 8K on Sept. 6. Three weeks later, the Mountain Lions competed at the UWP Lucian Rosa Invite in Kenosha, Wis., finishing fifth out of 24 teams.
  • The Mountain Lions' first postseason race took place at the RMAC Championship on October 25 in Colorado Springs, Colo. where they placed fourth out of 15 teams with 122 team points. On November 8, UCCS competed at the NCAA South Central Regional meet, held in Pueblo, Colo. The team finished sixth out of 24 teams and would qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship meet.
  • On November 22, the Mountain Lions ended the year with a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Division II Championship meet, led by Brett Davis with a time of 30:57.

  • The Mountain Lions' 13th place finish (394 points) at the NCAA Division II Championship meet was their best since the 2022 season, where they also finished 13th.
  • The five Mountain Lions to score points at the National Championship meet were Davis, who placed 54th, as well as Joseph Impellitteri (91st), Enzo Knapp (100th), Koy Cunningham (101st), and Logan Cole (112th).
  • UCCS finished in fourth place at the RMAC Championship meet. The first Mountain Lion to cross the finish line was Davis in 22nd place with a time of 25:02.79. UCCS runner Cole was not far behind, finishing in 24th place. Cunningham (25th) and Knapp (27th) also tallied places in the top 30. These four would go on to win All-RMAC Second Team honors for placing in the top 28.
  • The Mountain finished sixth in the NCAA South Central Regional meet led by a career best 10k time of 31:07.2 from Impellitteri, finishing in 21st place. Cole also placed in the top 25 (25th) as he and Impellitteri both earned USTFCCCA All-South Central Region Team honors.
  • Davis (32nd), Cunningham (40th), and Leal (41st) also scored points for UCCS in the South Central Regional as Cunningham improved on his career best 10k time, finishing in 31:53.7.
  • Head coach Mark Misch has led UCCS to the NCAA Championships for a seventh straight season, as the team competed in 12th time in program history. 
 
National Rankings
  • The Mountain Lions ranked in the top 15 of the USTFCCCA Division II Men's Cross Country Poll in all nine weeks of the season.
