FORD CITY, Ala. – In round two of the 2018 NCAA Men's Golf Division II Championship Tournament, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions improved by five strokes on Tuesday to post a 293 at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals Fighting Joe Course. UCCS' two-day total of 591 keeps them at No. 12 and in a tie for Missouri-St. Louis.
Barry University junior Jorge Garcia fired a tournament course-record 63 to lead the Buccaneers to a round of 16-under-par and into first place (558).
Senior
Colin Prater led the Mountain Lions for the second day after repeating Monday's score of 71. Prater's two-under-par 142 has him in a tie for 15
th place.
Tanner Comes shaved off six strokes on Tuesday to match Prater for the individual low. Comes is tied for 48
th place with a 148 (77, 71).
Two strokes and 10 slots behind Comes is
Ji Jang. Jang matched Monday's round of 75 for a two-day total of 150.
Closing out the Mountain Lions scorers is
Jack Duguid's 151 (tied-65
th).
Isaac Spillum owns a 157 after improving by three strokes (80, 77).
UCCS is nine strokes behind the No. 8 team Lincoln Memorial. The top eight teams after the three rounds of stroke play will advance to match play on Thursday where the field will be trimmed to two for final medal play on Friday.
