AUSTIN, Texas – Redshirt senior
Travis Bossio (Olympia, Wash.) of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf program has been voted to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Men's At-Large Second Team, announced Wednesday morning. Bossio is the first Mountain Lion in program history to earn Academic All-America distinction.
A three-year member of the Mountain Lions program, Bossio finished his final season at UCCS with the fifth best scoring average on the team. He competed in 31 rounds through 11 tournaments in 2022-23, averaging 74.6 strokes per round. He notched a career low round of 68 on Feb. 27, 2023 at the CSU San Bernardino Battle in the Desert Tournament, finishing the three round tournament with a 229 (t-58
th place). He led UCCS at the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship Tournament with a third-place finish behind a career low five-under par 211 after shooting under-par in each round.
Voted the RMAC Men's Golf Academic Player of the Year and earning his second straight appearance on the RMAC All-Academic First Team, Bossio registered a 3.957 GPA as a Computer Science major. In his last tournament wearing the black and gold for UCCS, Bossio finished in a tie for 92
nd place behind a 233 score at the NCAA regional tournament. An All-RMAC Second Team selection in 2021, Bossio played in 67 rounds for UCCS, posting a career stroke average of 74.4.
The 2023 Academic All-America® Men's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom with a minimum grade-point-averages of 3.5 or higher. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
