ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team closed out the 2022-23 season with a 14
th place finish Saturday at the NCAA South Central/West Regional Tournament. UCCS recorded an 891 over three days of competition, posting scores of 297, 305 and 289.

FROM THE TEE
- Barrett Jones and Brady Haake both finished in a tie for 46th place with a 54-hole total seven-over par 223. Jones (74, 81, 68) drained a 68 today, the lowest round of any Mountain Lion in the tournament. He chipped in two birdies and added an eagle on par 5 No. 16. Haake registered a birdie on the front nine and made par on eight holes on the back nine toward his 75 in round three (73, 75, 75).
- Brandon Bervig carded a one-under par 71 this afternoon behind five birdies, bringing his 54-hole total to 224 (73, 80, 71) and a tie for 52nd place overall.
- James Perry rounded out the UCCS' scorers with his 10-over par 226 (77, 74, 75). Perry finished the day with four birdies, including a string of three straight on holes 9-11 for a 66th place finish.
- Finishing fifth for the Mountain Lions and tied for 92nd overall is Travis Bossio. Bossio landed a 233 (78, 76, 79) over three rounds, highlighted by two birdies today.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- Host school Sonoma State University and Western Washington University shared the team title as both teams notched an 867 across all three rounds.
- Griffin Pace of Sonoma State held on to his individual lead, besting all 108 golfers with an impressive 12-under par 204.
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- After still being tied after two playoff holes and unable to compete for a third playoff hole due to darkness, Sonoma State won the tiebreaker to claim the team title.
- UCCS was one of four RMAC schools competing in the regional tournament. Colorado Christian University (872) finished sixth overall, two strokes ahead of Colorado State University Pueblo which tied for seventh overall. Colorado Mesa University scored an 882 to earn an 11th place finish.
- Through three rounds of competition, the Mountain Lions finished in a tie for ninth place in par 3 scoring (3.23, +14), tied for 13th in par 5 scoring (4.87, -8), and 16th overall in par 4 scoring (4.29, +43). UCCS made the sixth most pars in the field (157), and tied for the second fewest birdies (40).
- Jones' 36 par tied him for the 10th most in the field.
- Perry and Bervig led the Mountain Lions with 11 and 10 birdies, respectively.
