COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Travis Bossio and Brandon Bervig of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team represent the Mountain Lions on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.  A total of 10 sports comprises the men's at-large team.

The 2023 Academic All-District® At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports
Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

In order to be eligible for all-district accolades, the honorees need to be sophomores or above with a 3.5 or greater grade-point average (GPA) and be a significant contributor to the team.

A native of Olympia, Wash., Travis Bossio is a Computer Science major and owns a 3.957 GPA.  Earlier this month, Bossio was voted the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Golf Academic Player of the Year and made his second straight appearance on the RMAC All-Academic First Team.  This season, the redshirt-senior competed in 11 tournaments and averaged 74.55 strokes in 31 rounds of action.  He led UCCS at the 2023 RMAC Championship Tournament with a third-place finish behind a five-under par 211 after shooting under-par in each round.  A 2021 All-RMAC Second Team selection, Bossio's 211 at the conference championship was a season low.  In his last tournament wearing the black and gold for UCCS, Bossio finished in a tie for 92nd place behind a 233 score at the NCAA regional tournament two weeks ago. In three years competing for the Mountain Lions, Bossio tallied 67 rounds of action across 23 tournaments and earned a career stroke average of 74.40.

Redshirt-junior Brandon Bervig wrapped up his fourth year at UCCS with a 74.9 stroke average after playing in 11 tournaments and 31 rounds for the Mountain Lions in 2022-23.  From Colorado Springs, Colo. and a two-time RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll selection before being voted to the 2022-23 RMAC All-Academic First Team, Bervig shot a 224 at the regional tournament to finish the season tied for 52nd place. Bervig, who is studying Business at UCCS and has a 3.703 GPA, competed in 23 tournaments (69 rounds) in his time as a Mountain Lion, netting a 75.00 career stroke average.

The Mountain Lions finished their season with a 14th place finish at the 20-team NCAA South Central/West Region Tournament, held May 11-13 at Rohnert Park, Calif.
