CHANDLER, Ariz. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team turned in a three-over 287 in today's round and finished with a tournament score 861 for nine strokes over par to claim its second straight RMAC Tournament championship and the 14th overall title in program history.
Colin Prater won the individual championship by a four-stroke margin with an eight-under 205.

UCCS will receive an automatic bid into the 2017 NCAA Division II West / South Central Region Championships May 8-10, at Brookside Country Club in Stockton, Calif. The victory today is the fourth straight outright or shared conference title for the Mountain Lions between the regular season and tournament championships in the last two years.

Prater is the first Mountain Lion conference champion since Kevin Witte in 2013. He shot a three-under 68 today and was the only golfer in the tournament to finish under par in each round. It was his third win of the season and eighth top-10 finish in 11 events.

Tanner Comes tied for ninth in his third top-10 finish of the season with a three-over 216. He finished with a one-under 70 today and marked his tournament with a lower score as each round progressed. Comes marked today with his ninth round at or below par this season in his best finish this spring.

Blake Young provided the third team score for the Mountain Lions with a 74 and
Zach Berhost rounded out the score with a 75. Berhost tied for No. 16 in the tournament standings with a 219 and Young placed three strokes behind with a 222 in a tie for No. 27.
Ji Jang improved by two strokes from yesterday afternoon's round with a 77 and tied for No. 35 with a 229.

UCCS won the championship by a three-stroke margin against runner-up Colorado Christian in a tight race for the championship with the top four teams within a five-stroke margin. The Mountain Lions' 14th conference title pushes the all-sport total for the UCCS athletic department to 20.

The Mountain Lions will learn its seeding in the regional tournament on Friday when the NCAA releases the tournament fields. The top 10 teams from the South Central Region will play with the top 10 teams in the West Region for an opportunity to qualify for the national championships in late May.
