Colin Prater won his second tournament of the season with a three-under 213 and led the Mountain Lions in the 67th Annual SoCal Intercollegiate at Carlton Oaks Golf Club. UCCS finished seventh in the team standings with an 899 for 35 strokes over par in the three-round tournament.
Prater shot a 73 today and won by a two-stroke margin against California State-San Marcos' Braeden Koran. The tournament victory was Prater's first since the first RMAC event of the season on Sept. 19-20, and the fourth in his two-year Mountain Lion career.
Ji Jang and
Zach Berhost both contributed the second and third team scores for UCCS with a 77 today. Jang turned in a 77 in all three of his rounds for a 15-over 231 this week, while Berhost finished with his best round of the tournament by three strokes.
Tanner Comes closed out the team score with an 82 today and posted the second-best tournament score for the Mountain Lions with a 12-over 228. He tied for No. 34 overall.
UCCS scored a 309 as a team for 21-over par today in the seventh-place team finish. The Mountain Lions were the top RMAC team among the three in the tournament, and finished three strokes behind host UC San Diego.
The Mountain Lions will conclude the non-championship portion of the schedule next week, April 3-4, at the Western New Mexico Mustang Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club in Phoenix.
