DENVER – Blake Young shot an even 72 today and recorded his first career top-five finish as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs placed third in the Bob Writz Invitational at Bear Creek Golf Club. Young tied for fifth with a two-round tournament score of 151 for seven strokes over par.

Young went three-under during a four-hole stretch from holes seven through 10 and matched his best round score of the season today. He improved his score by seven strokes today and moved up 12 positions for his fifth-place performance. Young finished four strokes off of the tournament lead and tied for third among the Division II golfers in the field.

Colin Prater lowered his score by four strokes today and finished one stroke off of Young's tournament score with an eight-over 152. He recorded birdies on holes seven and No. 13 and tied for seventh in the tournament. It was his fifth top-10 finish of the season and his first of the spring season.

Ji Jang turned in an 80 and Tanner Comes closed out the team score with an 81 in today's round. Comes finished in a tie for No. 24 overall with a two-round score of 159 and Jang finished one stroke behind with Zach Berhost with a 160.

UCCS cut six strokes off its team score today with a 307 and finished third with a 44-over 620 over two rounds. The Mountain Lions finished four strokes behind Colorado Christian and six off of tournament winner Colorado State-Pueblo.

The Mountain Lions will travel to the 67th SoCal Invitational hosted by UC San Diego next week, March 27-28, at Carlton Oaks in Santee, Calif.
