DURANGO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team will spend the night on top of the leader board midway through the second round after action was suspended in the RMAC Fall Event at Hillcrest Golf Club. The Mountain Lions are 6-under par through the 12th hole with a one-stroke lead against Colorado State-Pueblo.
Colin Prater holds a two-stroke lead at 7-under. He started the day with a 1-under 70 and is 6-under through 12 holes in the second round. He made four birdies in a five-hole stretch early and finished the day with a birdie on the par-3 hole 12 before darkness set in.
Tanner Comes is tied for fourth at 2-under through 12 holes in the second round. He opened with a 72 and is 3-under in the second round, helped with back-to-back birdies on holes three and four.
Jack Duguid matched Prater's 70 in the first round is 3-over in the second round. He is tied for No. 10 at 2-over.
Peter Johns closed out the first round team score with a 73 and was 4-over in the second round when play ended.
Ji Jang opened the day with a 78 and was even in the second round.
UCCS turned in a 1-over 285 in the first round and was 7-under through 12 holes. The ThunderWolves are one stroke behind and third-place Colorado Christian is 11 strokes behind UCCS.
The tournament started late after a cold front moved through overnight, and was further delayed for weather at the start of the second round. The tournament will be shortened to 36 holes with additional delays forecasted on Tuesday morning.
