Colin Prater and
Tanner Comes each tied for seventh and led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to a second-place team finish in the Otter Fall Invitational today at the Black Horse Golf Course. The Mountain Lions shot an even 288 as a team in the third round to close out the final fall tournament of the season.
Prater and Comes both finished with a 1-under 215. Comes finished the fall with a 2-under 70 in today's round with an eagle on the par-5 hole 12, in his third straight top-10 finish. Prater turned in an even 72 with five birdies in his eighth top-10 finish in the last nine tournament since March.Â
Jack Duguid shot an even 70 in his best round of the week and finished in a tie for No. 25 with a 6-over 225.
Peter Johns closed out the Mountain Lion team score with a 74 and tied for No. 33 with a 223.
Ji Jang finished a stroke behind Johns in the overall standings with a 224 after a 78 today.
The Mountain Lions recorded a 4-over 868 in the three rounds and finished 12 strokes behind host and No. 14-ranked California State-Monterey Bay. No. 18-ranked UCCS finished ahead of No. 15 Chico State by three strokes.
UCCS will be off until the spring 2018 season, when the Mountain Lions will play for its third consecutive RMAC Tournament championship. UCCS finished second in the RMAC Fall Event last week, eighth at the Western Washington Invitational on Sept. 25-26, and sixth in a field of nationally-ranked teams at the Griffin Invitational Sept. 18-19.
