SANTEE, Calif. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore
Colin Prater recorded his fourth top-10 finish of the season as the Mountain Lions improved to sixth in the final round of the 66th SoCal Intercollegiate at Carlton Oaks Golf Club. UCCS recorded a 311 in today's round and tied UC San Diego with a tournament score of 923 for 59-over par.
Prater finished eighth with a tournament score of 224 for 8-over par after a 79 round today. He hit for par on 38 of the 54 holes for the second-best mark among the 60 golfers.
Zach Berhost and
Zach Tripp led UCCS in the final round with a 77. Berhost finished in a tie for 20 with a tournament score of 230 in his third top-20 finish of the season, and Tripp placed No. 44 with a three-round score of 238.
Kyle Southard rounded out the team score with a 78 and tied for No. 37 overall with a 234 this week.
UCCS was No. 23 in the national polls and was one of eight teams in the tournament ranked or receiving votes in the GolfWeek national poll. The Mountain Lions were three strokes behind fifth-place Dixie State.
The Mountain Lions will continue the spring season next week at the St. Edward's Invitational March 28-29 at Onion Creek Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
