Colin Prater opened with a 71 and followed with a 70 in the afternoon to tie for fifth overall and lead the Mountain Lions at the Otter Invitational at the Bayonet Golf Course. He is 3-under with a 141 as UCCS is tied for eighth in the 16-team tournament.
Prater made eagles on hole 18 in the first round and on hole one in the second round, although the eagles didn't come back-to-back because he began his day on hole 13 in the shotgun start. Prater is in position for his fourth top-five finish of the season and is four shots off of the lead held by Simon Fraser's Chris Crisologo.
Tanner Comes, the defending RMAC Golfer of the Week, turned in the second-best scores for UCCS in both rounds with a 73 in the first and a 74 in the second. He is tied for No. 18 overall with a 4-over 147.
Blake Young and
Ji Jang both matched each other's scores with a 77 in the morning and 78 and in the afternoon and the two are 11-over with a 155 after the first day.
