NORMAN, Okla. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf All-American
Patrick Skakel earned national recognition in academics as a Cleveland Golf / Srixon All-America Scholar. He was one of 91 Division II golfers to earn the award selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Skakel graduated magna cum laude in May with a degree in business and was a member of the RMAC Academic Honor Roll the last two seasons. He was a member of the UCCS Dean's List last fall.
Skakel became the seventh All-American in program history with a selection to the PING Honorable Mention team in June. He placed No. 54 at the NCAA Division II National Championships and shared the individual championship at the West / South Central Region Championships. He was a member of the PING All-South Central Region Team, the All-RMAC First Team and the RMAC All-Tournament Team.
The GCAA All-America Scholar Awards Committee selected golfers in the NCAA and NAIA who had a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, met season stroke average minimums and who had high moral character. The recipients also needed three full years of collegiate golf experience and be at least a junior or senior academically.
