Patrick Skakel improved by two strokes from the second round to today's third round with a 76 and finished in a tie for No. 54 at the 2015 NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championships at Rock Barn Golf and Spa. He finished with a three-round score of 223 for 10 strokes over par.
Skakel opened the morning with a birdie on hole 10 and finished the first half of the round with a 1-over 37. He put together back-to-back birdies on holes four and five to offset bogeys on holes one and three, and finished his final collegiate round with a birdie on hole nine for a 5-over 76.
Skakel finished his career as the NCAA Division II West / South Central Region champion and with four top-five finishes and six top-10 performances in four seasons He was a member of the All-RMAC First Team and is a two-time member of the RMAC All-Tournament Team. He was the RMAC Golfer of the Week earlier this season.
Skakel led a Mountain Lion team that qualified for the NCAA regional championships for the 14th consecutive season as the No. 3 seed from the South Central Region. UCCS had three golfers on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, two on the All-RMAC First Team and one on the All-RMAC Second Team.
