AUSTIN, Texas -
Zach Tripp led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team with a three-over 73 as the Mountain Lions tied for No. 11 at the St. Edward's Invitational today at Onion Creek Club. The tournament was shortened from three rounds to one after rain cancelled yesterday's two rounds.
Tripp hit birdies on holes 17 and 18 to finish the back nine at 1-over par. He was one of only two golfers to shoot better than par on 17 in today's round. Cook also birdied on hole 18 and joined Tripp was one of the tournament leads on par-5 holes today. Cook finished third for UCCS with a 76 in the round.
Patrick Skakel was the only other Mountain Lion to record a birdie in the round and did on hole 4, his last hole of the day. He was second for UCCS with a 75.
Blake Young rounded out the team score for UCCS with a 77.
The Mountain Lions shot a team score of 301 and tied Arkansas-Fort Smith and Dallas Baptist. The three teams were two strokes behind No. 10 West Texas A&M.
UCCS will return to the course for the SoCal Invitational March 23-24 in San Diego, Calif.Â
