SEASIDE, Calif. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore golfer Colin Prater turned in a 4-over-par 148 to lead the Mountain Lions through 36 holes as UCCS finished the first day No. 13 at the Otter Invitational at Black horse Golf Club. UCCS is 25 strokes over par with a two-round score of 601.

Prater opened the day with an even 72 in the first round and was 4-under-par on the front nine. He was 1-over-par on the same stretch of holes in the second round and finished with a 76 for his 148 in today's two rounds. Prater is tied for No. 32 in the field of 100 golfers and is six strokes out of the top 10.

Blake Young matched his best opening round of the season with a 73 and followed with a 77 in the second round for a total score of 150 today. He had the second-best tournament score on the team today for a tie for No. 48 in the field. Zach Tripp led UCCS in the second round with a 73 and was one stroke behind Young in the tournament standings with a 151 and a 78 in the morning round.

Zach Berhost accounted for the final team score in the first round with a 75 and made four birdies in the second round as one of three Mountain Lions with a 77 in the round. Kyle Southard improved his score by three strokes in the second round with a 77 and will begin the third round with a tournament score of 157.

UCCS is one of seven top-25 teams in the GolfStat rankings and is three strokes behind 12th-place California State-San Marcos. The Mountain Lions shot a 298 in the first round for the best team score since Sept. 28, and followed with a 303 in the second round.

UCCS will begin the final round of the fall season at 9 a.m., MDT, on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions will be paired with golfers from California State-Stanislaus and Wilmington, and will start on holes 12 through 14.
