UCCS in Third as Second Round Suspended at RMAC South Event

SANDIA PARK, N.M. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team is two strokes off of the team lead with two golfers in the top 10 as play was suspended midway through the second round of the RMAC South event today at the Paa-ko Ridge Golf Club. Colin Prater and Zach Tripp are tied for seventh in the individual standings at 4-over-par.

The Mountain Lions were second after the first round with a 12-over-par 300 as Prater led the team with a 1-over-par 73. He was 2-under-par through the first six holes of the day and finished the front nine with an even scorecard. He moved back to 1-under with his fifth birdie of the round on the 12th hole before bogeys on two of the last three holes of the round for his 73. Prater made it through 10 holes in the second round before play was suspended and was 3-over in the round. He's tied for seventh overall at 4-over.

Zach Tripp is tied with Prater in the overall standings at 4-over-par and is through 11 holes in the second round. Tripp overcame a tough performance on hole 4 in the first round and was 1-under-par on the back nine to finish the round at 2-over. He used a birdie on hole 9 in the second round to lower his score to 2-over-par and made par on holes 10 and 11 before play ended.

Kyle Southard shot a 79 and Zach Berhost shot an 80 to close out the Mountain Lion team score in the first round. Both golfers are 3-over through 10 holes in the second round.

UCCS is 12-over-par in the second round as a team and 23-over in the tournament. The Mountain Lions are one stroke behind Western New Mexico and two strokes behind Regis. UCCS is four strokes ahead of fourth-place Colorado State-pueblo.

The pairings from today will remain the same through the completion of the second round and in the final round tomorrow. UCCS will remain paired with Midwestern State, Colorado Mines and Fort Lewis will play resumes at 8:30 a.m., on Tuesday.
