Zach Tripp shot a 73 in the final round and Stephen Cook turned in a tournament score of 216 as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team matched its best tournament score of 2013-14 at the Buccaneer Invitational at the Normandy Shores Golf Club. The Mountain Lions shot an 895 in the first 54-hole tournament of the spring.
Tripp improved by two strokes off of his second-round score from yesterday and led the Mountain Lions with his 73 today. He tied for No. 54 in the overall results with a tournament score of 227 (79-75-73) for his best tournament score since the CSU-Pueblo RMAC event on Sept. 23-24.
Cook finished with his best tournament score of 216 (72-70-74) of his Mountain Lion career and lowered his 54-hole best by eight strokes this week. He tied for No. 19 individually and recorded his fourth top-20 finish in the last five tournaments.
Hearn matched Cook's final round performance of 74 and finished in a tie for No. 57 with a three-round score of 228 (77-77-74). Patrick Skakel turned in the final team score of the round with a 77 and tie for No. 50 overall with a 224 (74-73-77).
Up Next: UCCS will compete in the final tournament of the non-championship season next week at the Dallas Baptist Invitational April 7-8. Action will take place at the Hackberry Creek Country Club.
