DURANGO, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior Matt Vanderbeek shot a 72 for one stroke over par to lead the No. 17 Mountain Lions after the first round of the RMAC event today at the Hillcrest Golf Course. The second round was suspended due to darkness with five holes remaining.
Vanderbeek is in a seven-way tie for seventh in the overall standings with a 35-37 performance in the first round. He's two strokes ahead of teammate
Zach Tripp, who recorded a 37-37 for his 74 today.
Stephen Cook and
Dylan Mitchell both shot a 77 for the final two scores for the Mountain Lion team total today. Cook turned in the best performance by UCCS on the back nine with a 36 along with his 41 on the front nine. Mitchell went 38-39 for his first round score.
The remainder of the second round will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the third and final round to follow.
