DuPONT, Wash. - Eddie DeLashmutt shot a 69 in both rounds to lead a field of 82 golfers at six shots under par after the first day of the Saint Martin's Preview at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs is sixth out of 15 teams with a team score of two shots over par.
DeLashmutt's scores of 69 in both rounds are his best rounds of the season, and come in his first appearance of the spring season. He averaged 4.25 shots on the par five holes today and was second in the field with nine birdies. DeLashmutt was also one of 13 golfers to record an eagle during the first two rounds today.
Kevin Witte, Conrad Isley, Spencer Biersdorff and Grant Dean each shot 75 in the first round. Witte and Isley finished with a 71 in the second round to tie for No. 34 in the overall results, and Biersdorff provided the final score of the second round with a 73 to tie for No. 45 after the first day. Biersdorff recorded a par on 27 of the 36 holes today.
UCCS is nine shots off the lead, held by Grand Canyon. The Mountain Lions shot 284 in the second round for four strokes under par for the best team performance of the spring season and tied for the best team performance of 2012-13.
The third and final round will tee off Tuesday morning.
