Witte Leads Field, UCCS Second After First Round in Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. - Two-time RMAC Golfer of the Week Kevin Witte shot a 71 in strong winds to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and the 74 golfers after the first round of the Wolf Pack Invitational today at the Walking Stick Golf Course. Winds suspended the second round with six holes left in the round.

The second round will resume Tuesday morning before the third and final round is played. It's the final tournament for the Mountain Lions before the RMAC Championships next week in Phoenix.

Witte averaged 3.75 strokes on the par five holes to tie for the tournament lead. He shot one stroke under par in the front nine and shot for par on the back nine. Grant Dean matched Witte's performance on the first nine holes and finished second for the Mountain Lions after the opening round at 75. He tied for No. 11 overall.

Eddie DeLashmutt and Spencer Biersdroff both finished in a tie for No. 15 with a 76, both with 37-39 scores. Conrad Isley shot 82 to tie for No. 52 overall.

UCCS is one shot off of Colorado Mines for the team lead with 10 over par at 288. St. Edward's is two strokes behind the Mountain Lions with a 300.
