GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Spencer Biersdorff shot at or below par for the fifth time this season and is one shot above par after the first two rounds to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs at the Mustang Intercollegiate today at the Palm Valley Golf Club. The Mountain Lions are fifth among the nine teams with a team score of 599.
Biersdorff finished the first day with nine birdies and shot two strokes under par on the par four holes to match the tournament lead. He finished the last nine holes of the day a one under par to finish the second round with a 73.
Kevin Witte tied for ninth in the tournament at two strokes over par and was second in the tournament with 10 birdies today. He helped UCCS to a tournament-best 36 birdies, and his five-under average on par five holes helped the Mountain Lions average 10 strokes under par on those holes.
Conrad Isley tied for No. 18 with 75 scorecards on both rounds today. Grant Dean shot 75 on his first round and 82 on the second round as the final scoring golfer for the Mountain Lions on both rounds.
The final round of the Mustang Intercollegiate will tee off at 8:30 a.m. MDT. UCCS will be paired with golfers Colorado Mesa and Western New Mexico and will begin on holes 13-16.
