Hearn Places Fifth to Close Out Fall Season in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Joey Hearn moved up two spots for his first collegiate top-five performance to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs to a ninth-place finish at the Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational today at Dominion Golf Club. Hearn shot a 74 to finish with a team season-best tournament score of 217.

Hearn added three birdies in the final round today to finish with 12 birdies on the tournament. He was among the tournament leaders on par four and par five holes in his second collegiate appearance of his career. Hearn finished five strokes off of the lead and two strokes behind Dillon Van Essen of St. Edward's, the top finisher among the South Central Region golfers in the field.

Patrick Skakel finished with a 75 in his third round and finished with a 3.08 average on par three holes in the tournament. His tournament score of 226 was a seven-stroke improvement from his season-best at the GolfWeek Division II Invitational.

Dylan Mitchell provided the third score for the Mountain Lion team tally with a 76 today. He improved by seven strokes from his opening round yesterday morning. Stephen Cook and Dustin Dalzell both turned in an 80 on the final round and finished with tournament scores of 234 and 235, respectively.

UCCS will be off until the start of the 2014 spring season March 3-4 at the St. Edward's Invitational at Grey Rock Golf Course in Austin, Texas.
