SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Joey Hearn shot a two-under 70 in the second round and finished the first day in a tie for seventh to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs after the first two rounds of the Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational today. The Mountain Lions are ninth among the 14 teams with a team score of 604 at Dominion Golf Club.
Hearn ranked third among the 75 golfers with nine birdies during the first two rounds and is four strokes behind the leader before tomorrow's third round. He improved three strokes during the second round to match the best performance for a Mountain Lion this season in his second appearance of the year.
Patrick Skakel finished with a 153 (78-75) for the second-best performance for UCCS in the opening day. His 75 was his second-lowest score of the season in a single round. Stephen Cook turned in a 77 in both rounds today and tied for No. 48 in the individual results.
Dustin Dalzell recorded the final team score in the first round with his 77, but
Dylan Mitchell made a six-stroke improvement in the secound round for the final team score with his 77. The Mountain Lion team score also improved six strokes from the first to the second round for the sixth-best team score in the round.
