PUEBLO, Colo. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs lowered its round-by-round score by another six strokes and moved up to finish seventh in the second RMAC event of the season at Walking Stick Golf Course. The Mountain Lions posted the fifth-best score in the round among the 10 teams in the tournament with a 297.
Dylan Mitchell recorded the best score of the tournament for the Mountain Lions and the third-best of the season with a 72 today. It was an eight-stroke improvement for him from yesterday's second round, helped by an eagle in today's round.
Stephen Cook, the top golfer after the first two rounds for UCCS, shot a 74 for a one-stroke improvement and for a 224 in the three rounds. He tied for No. 16 out of the 60 golfers and matched his best tournament score of the fall season. Cook was among the top golfers in the field on the par 4 holes.
Patrick Skakel finished in a tie for No. 32 individually with a season-best tournament score of 230. He shot a 75 this morning and finished the tournament among the leaders in par 3 scoring.
Blake Young rounded out the team scoring in the final round with a 76 for a five-stroke improvement from his first two rounds of the tournament.
Dustin Dalzell finished in a tie for No. 36 individually with a tournament score of 231 and a final round score of 77. Joey Hearn competed as an individual and finished No. 13 overall with a 73 today and a three-round score of 223.
The Mountain Lions will finish the 2013 fall season at the Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational Oct. 21-22 at Dominion Golf Course in San Antonio, Texas.
