COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The No. 17 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team will look to remain perfect at home when the Mountain Lions (7-1 / 3-1 RMAC) continue the 2012 campaign tonight against Colorado Mines (6-3 / 2-2 RMAC) at 7:30 p.m. in Mountain Lion Stadium.
A win tonight would tie the UCCS program record for wins in a season. The Mountain Lions are nationally ranked for the second straight week and also stand third in the NSCAA South Central Regional poll.
Colorado Mines is also ranked at ninth in the regional poll, to make the team the fourth regionally ranked opponent for UCCS. The Orediggers lead in the RMAC in all offensive categories, helped by a pair of 8-0 wins during the nonconference season. Colorado Mines is led on offense by Dani Hering, who has scored seven goals, and Anna Evans' six goals. Goalkeeper Jayln Yates is second in the league in goals-against average.
The Mountain Lions will also bring an offense that ranks among the leaders in the nation behind the scoring of
Hannah Levett and
Hannah Rather. Both student-athletes lead the team with four goals each, and Levett has the team lead in assists with four.
Kelly Schroeder has anchored the defense that ranks No. 14 in Division II for shutout percentage and No. 16 in goals-against average.
Several Mountain Lions have the chance to improve their position in the UCCS program record charts.
Agnes Arnadottir is fifth in career points and needs one more to tie Josi Tablot for fourth. Levett needs three points to tie Arnadottir and Rather needs four points for the tie with Arnadottir.
