COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team fell to Dallas Baptist University women's soccer team 2-3 amidst a top ten matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Dallas Baptist started their offensive quest off quick with two early crosses in the first two minutes and the game's first shot, provided by Hannah Montoya. UCCS responded firmly, controlling possession in the first 15 minutes of the game and recording three shots.
- Luka Johnson entered the game at the 12th minute for Brooke Pavlich as an injury sub and immediately provided offensively, registering two shots in ten minutes. From the 25th minute on, the Patriots answered UCCS' possession with renewed aggression offensively. A DBU free kick from midfield provided some scare for the Mountain Lions after Leah Hurley collected the ball at the six-yard box and shot it over the bar, but not before DBU fouled Lucy Kapranos.
- The Mountain Lions won a free kick in the left corner at the 32nd minute and caused a frenzy in the box as Taylynn Levi picked up a loose ball and had her shot blocked. Just one minute later, UCCS serviced a corner kick that again caused DBU some panic, but they cleared the ball in the end
- The most threatening chance of the first half came from the Patriots when they were awarded a free kick at midfield off the game's first yellow card. The free kick was lobbed in from midfield and caused Kapranos to bobble the ball into Kenzie Tufts feet. Kapranos came up with a huge point-blank save on Tufts and sprung up to save the ensuing header from Lex Williamson.
- The second half got off to a quick start with UCCS tallying two shots to DBU's one within the first five minutes. UCCS found the game's first goal as the ball was headed forward by Casey Tadlock to Pavlich, who dispossessed a DBU defender, performed two stepovers, and slotted the ball in the bottom right corner. DBU responded to the Mountain Lions' goal with one of their own at the 61st minute, courtesy of Ashley Washburn. Washburn dispossessed Mattea Morris, dribbled down to the 18-yard box and cut in with her left to beat Kapranos to the bottom left corner.
- A minute later, DBU serviced a dangerous corner kick to Emma Croley, who's header was saved fantastically at close-range by Kapranos. At the 66th minute, the Patriots gained their second goal after a throw-in from Ashley Washburn rolled awkwardly into the box, allowing Riley Oslen to get a sneaky touch, resulting in the ball ending up in the back of the net. With momentum on their side, Washburn found Leah Hurley on a through ball, who shot it outside the 18-yard box into the bottom left corner.
- Approaching the 75th minute, the Mountain Lions won a free kick. Elise Broberg provided a dangerous cross that resulted in a UCCS corner kick. Once again, Broberg gave UCCS another dangerous cross, this time being scored by Sophia Broberg after DBU's Leslie Miller failed to punch the ball away.
- UCCS earned a couple more free kicks that gave fans hope of an equalizer, but the Mountain Lions were not able to capitalize on them, sealing DBU's 3-2 victory over UCCS.

- The Mountain Lions outshot the Patriots 19 to 14.
- Pavlich and Sophia Broberg both scored a single goal against the Patriots.
- DBU's Ashley Washburn scored a goal of her own and assisted Leah Hurley's goal.
