COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team takes the final two games in their four-game series against Colorado School of Mines, winning 17-16 and 8-4 (7 innings).

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE
- Mountain Lions starting pitcher Gerrit Erickson ran into some trouble in the top of the first, as the Orediggers plated three runs to take an early lead. Despite the early deficit, the UCCS lineup took a one run lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI single from Bryce Peterson and a three-run home run from Trevor Dale.
- A scoreless second led to an eventful third inning, as CSM added another run to its total. The Mountain Lions would go on to take the lead back with eight runs in the bottom of the third, as six different batters recorded an RBI, including a three-run shot by Peterson.
- Down by eight, the Orediggers moved within one, as they scored seven runs between the fourth and the top of the fifth innings to make it a 12-11 game. CSM would eventually tie the game at 13 apiece with a two-run top of the sixth inning. With a tied score in the bottom of the ninth, Tyler Genrich walked off the game with a leadoff solo home run as the Mountain Lions claimed a 17-16 victory in game one.
GAME STATISTICS | GAME ONE
- Peterson, Dale, and Genrich led the Mountain Lions with four RBIs apiece.
- Starting pitcher Erickson pitched 4.2 innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits with two walks and a strikeout.
- Liam Whalen (1-1) grabs his first win of the season, pitching one inning in relief, giving up one run on three hits. Nicholas Spidel (0-1) finished with the loss for CSM.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME TWO
- Starting pitcher Joe McDermott escaped the first inning with minimal damage, allowing just one run on two deep hits to center field, as CSM took an early lead. UCCS leadoff batter Quinn Medin reached safely with a walk in the bottom of the first and scored on a double down the third base line by Peterson to tie the game back up. Peterson would then take the lead with a steal of third and an advancement on a throwing error by the CSM catcher.
- The Mountain Lions extended their lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Genrich to plate Tyson Mayberry. To make it a 3-1 ball game. With no score in the third or top of the fourth, Dale led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run over the batter's eye in center field to go up 4-1.
- The Orediggers moved within two in the fifth inning thanks to a two-out RBI double to right field before McDermott escaped with a 4-2 lead. Just like the first inning, the UCCS lineup responded to a CSM score with one of its own, extending the lead to 5-2.
- The Mountain Lions continued to tack on runs in the sixth inning, plating two on an RBI triple by Medin and RBI singles up the middle by Brendan Killeen and James Harbison. The Orediggers would score two more in the seventh as UCCS claimed an 8-4 victory in game two.

- Seven Mountain Lions recorded an RBI in game two, all with one apiece.
- Peterson, Dale, and Genrich led the team in hits with two apiece.
- McDermott (4-1) gets the win for UCCS, pitching six innings, striking out two and allowing two runs. Will Niles (1-5) takes the loss for CSM.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- McDermott's six innings pitched in game two were the most he has completed in a game this season.
- The Mountain Lions are now 7-3 in their last 10 games against the Orediggers, winning five in a row with their sweep over the weekend.
