HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE
  • The Mountain Lions broke the ice in the second period when Trevor Dale slashed a single to left field, scoring James Harbison from second who reached on an error.
  • The Mavericks would find paydirt in the third inning, stringing together a lead off double with a one-out single to bring home their first run and tie the game at one.
  • The Mavericks would continue their scoring, with a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, while only letting a Mountain Lion base runner past first base once in the final four innings, taking game three by a 5-1 final.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME TWO
  • It was a tale of two halves in the nightcap, as this time it was Colorado Mesa getting to the plate first, and doing so by plating two in the second by going double, single, double.

  • The Mavericks added on once more in the in the fifth with a solo home run, now leading 4-0.

Matthew Shipley battled on the ensuing at-bat before pushing a triple between defenders in right center to score Velasco, with Brendan Killeen providing a productive out with a sacrifice fly to right. The fly-out brought Shipley home to score, with UCCS then well within striking distance 4-2.
  • Jason Fink would come on to pitch for UCCS, shutting down the Mavericks in a big spot with a 1, 2, 3 inning.
  • UCCS would continue the their momentum in the seventh as Trevor Dale led off with a single, moving to second on Tyson Mayberry's groundout. Tyler Genrich fouled out for the second out of the frame, before Tyler Buchman singled to right and drove in Dale, to keep the Mountain Lions hope alive and cut the deficit to one.
