COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team win both seven inning games vs New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE
- In the top of the first, Ryder Mancuso was able to bounce back after a lead off infield single by picking off the runner and grounding out the next two batters. In the bottom of the second, the Mountain Lions went down in order.
- In the top of the second, the Cowboys hit a single and a double to take a 1-0 lead. A throwing error allowed a runner to score. With a runner on third, Mancuso was able to get out of the inning, with his first strikeout and a groundout. In the bottom of the second, the Mountain Lions went down in order.
- In the top of the third, a walk, wild pitch, and flyout allowed the Cowboys to have a runner on third with one out. A groundout allowed the runner at third to score, as the Cowboys took a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the third, the Mountain Lions went down in order.
- In the top of the fourth with a runner on first and one out, Mancuso was able to get the batter to ground into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. In the bottom of the fourth, the Mountain Lions went down in order.
- In the top of the fifth, Mancuso stayed hot as he got his second strikeout in a 1-2-3 inning. In the bottom of the fifth, James Harbison hit a leadoff single and advanced to second on an error. Trevor Dale followed that up with a walk and Matthew Shipley bunted to advance the runners to second and third. Tyler Genrich stepped up and hit a single to center to drive in the two runners.
- In the top of the sixth, a hit-by-pitch and a single got runners at the corners with no outs for the Cowboys. A groundout allowed the runners to advance, scoring their fourth run. Mancuso was able to get out of the inning with a groundout and his third strikeout of the game. In the bottom of the second, Brendan Killeen hit a leadoff single. Bryce Peterson followed up with a double and Harbison hit another double to drive in the two runners and tie the game. A walk and an error loaded the bases, Genrich hit into a fielder's choice. But a throwing error from the pitcher allowed the runners at second and third to score. A walk allowed the Mountain Lions to load the bases again. The Mountain Lions were able to score three more runs on a sacrifice fly and a fielding error from the right fielder.
- In the top of the seventh, Mancuso stayed in the game. The first batter hit a ball to left field that would have been a hit, but Brendan Killeen robbed the hit with a full extension play to catch the ball. Mancuso was able to get his fourth strikeout, but the Cowboys were able to hit four singles and score two runs. With runners on first and second with two outs, Mancuso got the batter to ground out as he completed the game, and the Mountain Lions won 9-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME TWO
- In the top of the first, Jacob Brown recorded a 1-2-3 inning and his first strikeout of the game. In the bottom of the first, Quinn Medin hit a leadoff single and Killeen followed up with an RBI double to drive in Medin. Harbison was able to hit a single and drive in Killeen, to take a 2-0 lead.
- In the top of the second, Brown recorded another 1-2-3 inning. In the bottom of the second, the Mountain Lions went down in order.
- In the top of the third, Brown recorded another 1-2-3 inning and his second strikeout of the game. In the bottom of the third, the Mountain Lions could not capitalize on the runner on first, as they didn't score any runs.
- In the top of fourth, a leadoff single denied Brown of a no-hitter. But Brown bounced back with a groundout and a flyout. Unfortunately, the next batter hit a home run to left field that tied the game. In the bottom of the fourth with a runner on first and second with two outs, Ruben Velasco hit a ground ball that he did beat out, but a questionable out call by the first base umpire ended the inning.
- In the top of the fifth, the Cowboys hit back-to-back singles. With runners on first and second and one out, Brown threw to the second basemen to pick off the runner at second. Brown followed that up with his third strikeout of the game to get out of the inning. In the bottom of the fifth, a walk and a throwing error by the pitcher allowed Medin to advance to second with no outs. Killeen was then hit by a pitch and Peterson followed up with a double to left field, which allowed Medin to score. A wild pitch allowed Killeen to score and a sacrifice fly from Harbison allowed Peterson to score. Dale followed that with a no doubter home run to left field. A new pitcher came into the game and immediately hit Mayberry and walked Genrich. Unfortunately, the Mountain Lions could not capitalize.
- In the top of the sixth, the Cowboys loaded the bases with one out. A sacrifice fly allowed New Mexico to score one run. A double allowed them to score a second run and keep both runners in scoring position. Unfortunately, that ended the night for Brown and Christian Klehr replaced him on the mound. He was able to get out of the inning without allowing a run. In the bottom of the sixth, the Mountain Lions went down in order.
- In the top of the seventh, Liam Whalen replaced Klehr for the save situation. Whalen started off hot, striking out the first batter and getting the second batter to ground out. He then followed that up by striking out the last batter, getting the save as the Mountain Lions won 6-4.
