In the bottom of the first, a Tyson Mayberry and James Harbison single allowed the Mountain Lions to have two men on with two outs. Trevor Dale stepped up and hit an RBI single as the Mountain Lions took a 1-0 lead into the second inning.
  • In the top of the second, Mancuso was able to get the first batter out. But he hit the next two batters and walked a batter to load the bases with one out. With their first two hits of the game, the Rangers were able to drive two runs on back-to-back singles. Mancuso was able to respond by getting his first strike out of the game. The next batter grounded out to Dale, as he made a great defensive play to get the batter out at first. In the bottom of the second, Tyler Buchman and Ruben Velasco hit singles, and both stole bases. With two runners on second and third, Matthew Shipley hit a groundout to allow Buchman to score. Mayberry was able to step up and hit a single through the middle to drive in Velasco, as the Mountain Lions take a 3-2 lead into the third.
  • In the top of the third, Regis were able to load the bases on a single, walk, and hit-by-pitch. Mancuso responded with his second strike out but hit the next batter to allow the Rangers to score a run and tie the game. The Mountain Lions were able to get out of the inning with an astonishing 4-6-3 double play. In the bottom of the third, Harbison and Dale hit back-to-back solo home runs to take back the lead. With one out, Tyler Genrich and Buchman hit back-to-back solo home runs to extend the lead as a new pitcher comes in for the Rangers. Velasco followed up with a double and Shipley walked. Mayberry was able to come up and hit a bloop single to center field, which drove in Velasco. The Mountain Lions took an 8-3 lead into the fourth inning.

Peterson then hit an infield single to get runners at the corners with no outs. James Harbison followed that up by hitting a single to keep runners at the corners and drive in Oliver. A new pitcher came in for the Rangers, but that didn't matter for Dale as he hit a single and Killeen hit a double to drive in two more runs. A wild pitch allowed Dale to score and a groundout to score Killeen.

A wild pitch allowed Buchman to advance to second with one out and a pitcher mix-up allowed Shipley to reach first safely. An Oliver groundout allowed both runners to get into scoring position with 2 outs. The Rangers then decided to intentionally walk Peterson to load the bases. This backfired completely, as the pitcher threw a wild pitch and a run scored to tie the game.
  • In the top of the seventh, Whalen continued to dominate, as he got his first strikeout in a 1-2-3 inning. In the bottom of the seventh with two outs and a runner on first, Buchman came up but would never take his at-bat as the umpires suspended the game due to darkness.
