HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE
  • Mountain Lions starting pitcher Jason Fink retired the Rangers in order to start off the game before UCCS designated hitter Tyson Mayberry started the scoring with an RBI single to left as Matthew Shipley came around to score. With the bases soon loaded, Brendan Killeen hit a ball through the left side of the infield to push the score to 3-0. The Mountain Lions would ultimately go on to bat through the order and plate eight runs on four hits and two errors in the first.
  • Regis would score one run in the second to move the score to 8-1 before the Mountain Lions went down in order heading into the third. The Rangers would then go on to plate two more in the top of the third to make it 8-3 in favor of the Mountain Lions.
  • The scoring came to a halt in the fourth and fifth innings, as both teams went down in order in each inning. Leading off the sixth inning, RU's Ayden Harrison hit a solo shot to left center field to move the score to 8-4. The Rangers would add another run to lessen the deficit to three runs.
  • With James Harbison taking over on the mound in the seventh after a scoreless bottom of the sixth, the Rangers would tie the game up on an RBI double by Ethan Wood and a two-run home run off the bat of Harrison for his second of the day.
  • The Mountain Lions created some action on the base paths in the bottom of the seventh, as Shipley led off with a walk and swiped second and third before Bryce Peterson walked. With runners on the corners and one out, Regis pitcher Rocco Harmon balked in Shipley to give the lead back to UCCS. Killeen would extend the lead with a bases loaded, RBI single to left center, followed by a bases loaded walk by Cayden Gonzalez to go up 11-8. With the bases still loaded, Ruben Velasco hit a long grand slam to left field to take a 15-8 lead.
  • Mayberry would come up to the plate with a runner on second and hit a line drive home run to right field to add two more to the Mountain Lions' lead. Joshua Zotto would come out to finish the game for UCCS and allowed four runs on a grand slam off the bat of RU's Jack Moulin. The Mountain Lions would ultimately claim a 17-12 victory in game one of Friday's double header.
