INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second straight week, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs has three programs ranked among the top 10 in their respective regions in the latest NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings.

The women's soccer team is ranked No. 5 in the South Central Region with 59.021 points (No. 24 in Division II).  Dallas Baptist University is leading Division II and the region with 63.820 points.  The Mountain Lions closed out the regular season this past weekend at home with two wins against Colorado Mesa University (W, 4-1) and Westminster University (W, 3-0).  UCCS is locked in as the No. 2 seed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament following a 9-2-1 league record (13-3-2 overall).

In the men's soccer rankings, the Mountain Lions are ranked No. 6 in Super Region 4 with 57.882 points, and have the 15th best NPI ranking in Division II. Cal State LA is ranked No. 1 in Division II and in the region with 63.331 points.  UCCS owns a 10-2-5 overall record and 5-2-2 RMAC record after defeating Colorado School of Mines yesterday, 4-1.  The Mountain Lions will close out the regular season at home this Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Colorado State University Pueblo.

In the second week of NPI rankings, UCCS volleyball is ranked No. 9 in the South Central Region with 55.797 points. Angelo State University is ranked No. 1 in the region with 67.046 points.  The Mountain Lions are coming off two setback sweeps against Metropolitan State University of Denver and CSU Pueblo this past week as part of the RMAC Power Pod.  Currently tied for second in the RMAC standings with an 8-2 record (13-9 overall), UCCS will play its final home matches of the regular season this weekend against Western Colorado University on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by Fort Lewis College on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The NPI rankings are used by the NCAA to evaluate Division II teams and help determine postseason selections and seedings.  The NPI is being implemented at the NCAA Division II level for the first time this season and will serve as the primary selection tool for determining the NCAA Tournament field in most team sports. The formula considers wins, strength of schedule, quality wins and match location, including home, away and neutral-site results.

In volleyball and women's soccer, the South Central Region consists of programs from the Lone Star Conference and the RMAC. Following conference postseason play, the top six teams in the final NPI rankings will be selected for the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament, while the top eight teams in volleyball will advance to the South Central Regional Tournament.
Automatic qualifiers from each conference will also be factored into the respective fields.

In men's soccer, Super Region 4 includes programs from the RMAC, Lone Star Conference, California Collegiate Athletic Association, PacWest Conference and Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Following conference postseason play, the top 10 teams in the final NPI rankings will be seeded for the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Super Regional Tournament, with automatic qualifiers from each conference also factored into the field.

Beginning today, the NPI soccer rankings will be updated daily, with the daily volleyball NPI rankings beginning Nov. 2.
