Men’s Track and Field Ranks No. 21 in Week 1 USTFCCCA National TFRI

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's track & field team ranks No. 21 in Week 1 of the United States Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Indoor Track & Field Rating Index with 36.27 TFRI points. 

Wingate University takes over the top of the men's rankings with 251.48 TFRI points, while Pittsburg State University is pushed down to second place with 189.19 TFRI points. Adams State is the leading RMAC representative with a No. 5 ranking and 137.03 TFRI points. Colorado School of Mines trails closely behind in the No. 7 spot with 70.72 TFRI points. 

Through the first week of the season, the Mountain Lions have recorded a total of 14 NCAA provisional qualifying marks with three of these being within the top 10 in NCAA Division II Track and Field.

In the first edition of the USTFCCCA South Central Regional Rankings, the UCCS men's team ranks first as they have 414.19 TFRI points. The UCCS women's team also ranks No. 1 in the South Central Region with 420.13 TFRI points.

In the initial release of the USTFCCCA Division II Indoor Track & Field Event Squad Rankings, the Mountain Lions had 16 event groups ranked inside the top ten for their respective event with four events groups ranked No. 1, including the men's long jump, men's and women's triple jump, and men's heptathlon. 
 
USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings places a rank order to a program's "squad" of athletes in a particular event, using the cumulative season-best qualifying marks from a team's top-four ranked athletes on the national descending-order list. As with the national descending-order list for qualifying and seeding purposes, marks are subject to be converted due to track size and/or altitude. A team must have four or more athletes with a valid season-best mark to achieve a ranking in a particular event.

Men's Heptathlon: 1st - 4,686 (Broden Cahoon, Dillon Arvayo, Luke Masterson, Spencer Shuler)
Women's Long Jump: 3rd - 5.82m (Maylee Thompson, Chelsea Howard, Madissyn Moore, Jillian Hennessy)
Men's 60m: 5th - 6.83 (Noah Brown, Daryn Ofori-Kuragu, Luke Trinrud, Michael Ryan Cruzado)
Women's 60m Hurdles: 5th - 8.86 (Krissie Sanders, Abigail Frey, Colette Bibeault, Payton Rodgers)
Men's Shot Put: 6th - 15.98m (Kyle Demos, Kane Fobare, Cam Bruns, Joseph Bjegovich)
Women's Shot Put: 7th - 13.38m (Savannah Jorgens, Grace Solarin, Jaedyn Kohn, Bailey Young)
Men's Weight Throw: 7th - 17.73m (Michael Roberts, Hayden Cuevas, James Bronzwaig, Kane Fobare)
Women's 60m: 9th - 7.70 (Danaya Kinnard, Leiava Holliman, Taryn Fettig, Katie Jewell)
Men's 400m: 9th - 48.98 (Sebastien Jean, Joshua Gross, Hayden Fox, Revano Plummer)
Women's High Jump: 9th - 1.60m (Dallis Robinson, Lilyana Delagarza, Evelyn McClellan, Maylee Thompson)
Men's High Jump: 10th - 1.96m (Jake Hall, Lyai Lyai, Luke Masterson, Evan Atkin)
Women's Pole Vault: 10th - 3.55m (Brooke Peterson, Colette Bibeault, Sienna Boughen, Reese Dorr)
Women's Weight Throw: 10th - 16.05m (Savannah Jorgens, Grace Solarin, Bailey Young, Dyanna Parra)

The Mountain Lions will head to CSM Steinhauer Fieldhouse in Golden, Colorado for the Mines Winter Classic that is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 30.
