BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field had a small group of field athletes in action on Friday for day one of the Colorado Classic in Boulder, Colo. as the Mountain Lions' had a trio of men's and women's pole vaulters reach personal best heights in their event.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The freshman duo of Sienna Boughen and Reese Dorr matched one another in the women's pole vault as they both cleared personal best bar heights of 3.50m to finish in a tie for ninth overall.
- Freshman Gray Pence led UCCS in the men's pole vault with a personal best bar clearance of 4.70m as he finished ninth overall in the competition while senior Brayden Shaw finished in a tie for tenth place with a season-best mark of 4.40m.
- Redshirt freshman Joseph Bjegovich claimed 20th place in the men's shot put as he posted a mark of 13.11m on his first toss of the afternoon.
- In the men's weight throw, freshman Derek Williams was the top finisher from UCCS as he secured a 23rd place finish with a mark of 13.58m. Sophomore Alex Johnson finished just behind Williams in 24th place with a mark of 13.30m, while redshirt freshman Trevor Moore took 28th place with a toss of 12.91m.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- With just a few weeks remaining before the RMAC Indoor Championships, Boughen and Dorr sit in a four-way tie for seventh on the conference's performance list in the women's pole vault.
UP NEXT
- The Mountain Lions will be back in action tomorrow morning for day two of the Colorado Classic as the track events are set to begin at 11 a.m. from the Ford Practice Facility.
