COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team cruised past Western Colorado University women's soccer team 5-0 en route to their fifth straight win on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UCCS started off the match aggressively and in control. A scoring opportunity in the 20th minute just went over the cross bar on a try by Luka Johnson.
- Ten minutes later, UCCS had another scoring opportunity in the 30th minute that was sent away by Western goalkeeper Ashlyn Fitzpatrick.
- The Mountain Lions opened the scoring in the 43rd minute when Emily Aguilar fired the ball past Fitzpatrick.
- Aguilar and UCCS quickly scored again seconds into the second half with a header to make the score 2-0 with her third goal of the season.
- The Mountain Lions netted another goal just five minutes later to extend the lead to 3-0 when Abby Stassi scored her fifth goal of the season with an assist from Malia Groshong on a free kick.
- UCCS scored again in the 58th minute when Luka Johnson sprinted past the Mountaineer defense and netted her fourth goal to make the score 4-0.
- UCCS scored their fifth and final goal of the game in the 80th minute when Noelia Garcia scored her first goal of the year to push the final score to 5-0.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- The Mountain Lions outshot the Mountaineers 26 to 15 with 12 shots on goal to WCU's six. UCCS also led the game in corner kicks six to four.
- Aguilar led the Mountain Lions in scoring with two goals to give her three on the season.
- Elise Broberg led UCCS in assists today as she recorded her third and fourth of the season.
- Mountain Lion goalkeeper, Nylah Mirshafiei converted on all six of her save opportunities as she recorded her fourth straight clean sheet.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- UCCS moves to 14-3-0 all-time against WCU after their Sunday victory. The Mountain Lions have now won 10 of their last 11 against the Mountaineers.
- The Mountain Lions continue to remain undefeated in RMAC play this season with a record of 2-0-0 and overall record of 6-1-1.
- Broberg surpassed her 2024 assist total of two today on her first assist. She doubled her 2024 assist total with her second.

- The Mountain Lions begin a two-game road trip on Friday, Oct. 3 against Colorado Christian University with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m. (MT) at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, Colo.
