10/3/2025 1:12:00 PM

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team was stalled by a 90-minute defensive drill in Lakewood, drawing Colorado Christian in a scoreless contest.

INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
Final: #12 UCCS 0, CCU 0
Records: UCCS (6-1-2, 2-0-1 RMAC), CCU (1-4-3, 0-1-2 RMAC)
Facility: Trailblazer Stadium | Lakewood, Colo.
All-Time Series: The Mountain Lions and Cougars draw for just the second time in the history of the match up, as UCCS maintains a hefty advantage 19-3-2 all-time over CCU.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Mountain Lions opened play with the upper hand offensively as they had several promising chances in the early going but could not capitalize on their opportunities. After the first thirty minutes of play the difference in chances was stark, as UCCS had four shots, one on goal, and three corner kicks, with CCU yet to record an offensive statistic.
  •  As the first half came and went, the story was the same as UCCS controlled the ball in the offensive half but could not put any of their opportunities into the nylon. As the horn sounded for halftime, UCCS had nine shots, two on frame, with five corners but no goals to mention. CCU had still yet to record an offensive stat.
  • As the second half unfolded the Cougars did their best impression of a department store that was closing its doors, as every ball was on clearance. Despite the Mountain Lion's best efforts, they were met by three or more defenders anytime they were within 25 yards of the goal. UCCS had opportunities but could not get any plays to flow with the swarm mentality of their opponents, as the match ended as it began and UCCS earned a single point in the scoreless draw in Lakewood.

STATS FROM THE GAME

  • The Mountain Lions finished with 18 shots with three being directed on frame.
  • CCU did not record any offensive stats in the match, with the only statistics for the Cougars being 18 shots faced, three saves and seven fouls.

  • This is the first match of the season in which UCCS was unable to score, as the Mountain Lions earned their second draw of the fall.
