Records: UCCS (2-1-1, 0-0-0 RMAC), SEU (1-3-0, 0-0-0 LSC)
Facility: Lewis-Chen Family Field | Austin, Texas
All-Time Series: The Mountain Lions pull in front of the Hilltoppers in the all-time series, leading SEU 3-2-0 in 5 meetings between the programs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Mountain Lions earned the first scoring chance of the match as a fluid build up through the midfield found the foot of Brooke Pavlich in the box, but the redirect went wide left.
  • The eighteenth minute marked the first time either team found paydirt, as Reagan Burkey sent a pass into the middle of the box from the left wing where Luka Johnson was waiting. Johnson, all alone at the right post, executed the simple header to deposit the Mountain Lions first goal into the back of the net, as UCCS took the 1-nil lead early in the first half.
  • The Hilltoppers had several opportunities in the first half in the Mountain Lions defensive end, including several free kicks from 30-45 yards out, but the Hilltoppers offense was not able to solve the Mountain Lions backline. The best chance for the home side came with just over five minutes to play in the first half, but the Mountain Lions denied several chances at the net before Nylah Mirshafiei jumped on a deflected ball to conclude the push for SEU.
  • The Hilltoppers came out of the half with a burst of energy, but the early chance for the hosts was well defended by UCCS, allowing the Mountain Lions to get back to their possession-based game quickly after the resumption of play.
  • 15 minutes into the half, the Hilltoppers found their first, as Annie Rocha did well to stay onside before jetting to a breakaway pass. Rocha waited for the proper moment on the 1v1 with Mirshafiei and tapped the equalizer home once the Mountain Lion's keeper committed to the challenge.
  • Just minutes later, a promising chance for UCCS to pull back in front came up empty. The centering chance gave both Abby Stassi and Brooke Pavlich a look at goal, but neither could get a good strike, as SEU keeper Daria Schlumbohm jumped on it. The Mountain Lions wouldn't be denied, however, as they earned possession back at midfield after the clearance and marched right back down the field. The initial pass in front was partially blocked, but the rebound was right on the foot of Luka Johnson who finished inside the left post for her second of the match, restoring UCCS' lead at 2-1.
  • Six minutes later, a UCCS corner was converted to extend the Mountain Lion lead. Mikaela Carlson handled the set piece from the near corner, placing it perfectly in front of the six-yard box. After a brief pinball action Malia Groshong was able to put her boot on the loose ball to make the lead two for UCCS.
  • Just three minutes went by before UCCS netted a fourth, this time it was Elise Broberg feeding Abby Stassi from the right wing, as Stassi fired a turnaround shot with her left foot to beat Schlumbohm as UCCS began to pour it on with 20 minutes still to play in the second half.
  • The two sides traded chances the rest of the way, but none would be converted, as UCCS earns the win in Austin 4-1 and splits the Texas road trip with a win and a loss in the Lone Star State.
