Mountain Lions Announce First Recruit: Braedon Johnson

12/5/2025 2:32:00 PM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The first signing for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball recruiting class is guard Braeden Johnson from Salida, Colo, announced head coach Misty Wilson on Friday.

"One thing that stood out about Braeden throughout the recruiting process is her basketball IQ," explained Wilson. "We believe Braeden will be a great system player for us and will pick up on our concepts quickly. On and off the floor, Braeden exemplifies what we want to see in our players. She is scrappy, driven, and plays on both ends of the floor."

Entering her senior season at Salida High School, Johnson is coming off a junior campaign where she averaged 20.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 4.4 steals per game.  She shot the ball at a 44 percent clip from the floor, and landed 31 percent of her shots from behind the three-point line.

The Tri-Peaks League Player of the Year and a three-time Mile High Preps all-conference first team selection, Johnson has been named to the CHSAA 3A All-State Honorable Mention team twice, as well as the CHSAA 3A All-State Second Team.  She guided the Spartans to the 2025 regional championship title and led them to their first state appearance in 37 years.  The 5-foot-6 guard has also earned CHSAA 3A All-Academic honors twice and is a four-year Honor Roll of Distinction student.

The Mountain Lions (3-4, 0-1 RMAC) will host Westminster University on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Gallogly Events Center.
