Cross Country Teams Listed in Top 15 of USTFCCCA Week 7 Polls

NEW ORLEANS, La. – In the final poll before the Division II National Championships, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs cross country programs maintain their presence in the
United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Cross Country National Coaches' poll.  The Mountain Lions women's team received 214 points and moved down one slot to No. 4, while the men's squad garnered 134 points and moved up one ranking to No. 14.
 
Both Mountain Lion programs ran to dominating performances last Saturday in the NCAA South Central Regional championships, with the UCCS women's team claiming a second-place finish in the 6k race, and the men's team posting a sixth-place finish in the 10k race.
 
Sophomore Madison Brosig led UCCS with a ninth-place finish in a time of 21:08.6.  Kate Henderson placed 10th with a time of 21:10.6. The next three Mountain Lions to tally points for UCCS were Kaya Pillivant (16th), Kseniya Nikanorov (17th), and Maddie Ruszkiewicz (22nd).
 
Joseph Impellitteri (31:07) and Logan Cole (31:14) ran to all-region performances after crossing the finish line in 21st and 25th place, respectively.  The next three Mountain Lions to score points toward UCCS' 159-point total were Brett Davis (32nd), Koy Cunningham (40th), and Caden Leal (41st) with a time of 31:54.1.

The women's second-place finish at Saturday's regional automatically qualified them for the NCAA DII Championships, while the men's sixth-place finish earned them one of 10 at-large spots.
 
The Division II championships will be held Saturday, November 22 in Kenosha, Wis. on the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course, located on the campus of the University of Wisconsin Parkside.  The women's 6k national championship race will begin at 9 a.m. (MT), with the men's 10 national championship race set to begin at 10:15 a.m. (MT).
