Seven Mountain Lions Receive USTFCCCA All-Region Recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Seven Mountain Lions from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's and women's cross country teams have been named to the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-South Central Region Team, announced Monday afternoon.
 
The Mountain Lions women's team ran to a second-place finish at Saturday's South Central Regional Championship as all five scorers finished in the top 25 to earn all-region status.  Leading the Mountain Lions in the 6k race was Madison Brosig with a ninth-place finish in 21:08.6.  True freshman Kate Henderson was on Brosig's heels, placing 10th in 21:10.6.  Also placing back-to-back were Kaya Pillivant in 16th place (21:19.8) and Kseniya Nikanorov in 17th place (21:21.9).  Bringing in the Mountain Lions' scorers was Maddie Ruszkiewicz in 22nd place with a time of 21:36.6.
 
Pacing the men's cross country team to a sixth-place team finish was Joseph Impellitteri with a 21st-place finish in 31:07.2. Just seven seconds behind him in 25th place was Logan Cole (31:14.6).
 
The USTFCCCA All-Region honors are awarded to the top 25 finishers in each regional race.  The 2025 NCAA South Central Regional Championships were held in Pueblo, Colo. at Walking Stick Golf Course this past Saturday.
 
The NCAA Division II qualifiers for the national championship meet will be announced later this afternoon.
